Ms Carroll has changed my life by giving me life-changing experiences.

We are now just two days away from the Teachers Inspire Ireland gala event and today, we tell the story of teacher Sandra Carroll, from Holy Rosary College, Mountbellew, Co Galway.

Ms Carroll was nominated by current student Abbie Buchan.

“Ms Carroll is so much more than just a teacher: she is a friend, a person to talk to and makes you feel equal.

“Outside of her usual classes, she runs the Transition Year musical and the annual mock trials team. Out of her spare time and good heart, she takes these on and makes sure everyone feels included and enjoys it.

“There is never a moment she doesn’t put a smile on your face or your expectations aren’t fulfilled. She organises rehearsals and all the trips - and she even went as far as to buy us all matching folders to keep us organised and motivated.

“She’s like a second mom and she’s always easy to relate to for all her students. She’s an inspiration to us all. We hope one day we can continue to do something for others and give opportunities to others like the life-changing ones she gives to us.

“There’s no teacher in my opinion that would deserve this award more than Ms Carroll does. Ms Carroll has changed my life by giving me life-changing experiences like performing law cases in courts of Dublin and New York, and has changed me as a person by teaching and giving me confidence in myself and in everything I do.”
